CNHA Team Selection will be led by the General Manager of Hockey Operations (Jesse Hale) in conjunction with the Coaching Staff and skill-based service providers.
The Board of Directors of the CNHA will not be involved in the evaluation or selection of tryout registrants.
The GM of Hockey Operations will determine the format of evaluations including the mix of skill session and game play as well as scoring criteria, and developmental benchmarks by age category. These will align with overall development strategy for the CNHA as determined by the GM of Hockey Operations.
Final team/player selection will rest with the GM and the Coaching Staff.
As indicated the GM of Hockey Operations will be responsible for building the format of evaluations on a yearly basis. This will be created through collaboration with the CNHA Executive, CNHA Coaching Staff, Hockey Calgary as well as the other Calgary Elite Associations. The format may change from year to year as needed; including but not limited to changing developmental goals, # of participants, and ice/facility constraints. Information regarding the format of evaluations will be released concurrently with the Registration for tryouts.

The integrity of the evaluation process has been built around having as much data on each player as possible – with this intent in mind it’s important that players attend all tryout sessions. As a general guideline in order to be eligible to move to Phase 2 a player must attend at least 2 sessions in Phase 1– this guideline is meant to address attendance at Junior camp or injuries/illness. In the event that your player is away at camp or injured/ill the GM must be notified of the absence, if the absence will extend more than two sessions the GM will work the player and will have the latitude to support the player
